Joseph B. Mulenga Scholarship
The Joseph B. Mulenga Scholarship is awarded to two students each year who have exceptional secondary school records, an enthusiastic and genuine desire to enter into a career in teaching, and whose family does not have the means to pay for enrollment into the Malcolm Moffat College of Education (MMCE).
Graduating from MMCE ensures a Zambia Teacher Education Course (ZATEC) certificate and an opportunity for full-time employment. Our agreement with the college is to provide funding for 4 students annually: two new students are selected and enrolled in the program, plus the two students selected in the previous year continue through their second and final year of the ZATEC program. Our obligation to each student is to provide the means for them to complete the entire two year program and attain the Zambia Teacher Education Certificate.
About Joseph Mulenga
Joseph Mulenga was the Principal at the Malcolm Moffat College of Education (MMCE) from 1987 to 1992. He believed that people should be judged by their character, actions and integrity not by their wealth or position. SEED's annual scholarship fund was established to carry forward the ideals of Mr. Mulenga by promoting the education of teachers and offering opportunity to individuals who do not have the means of supporting themselves through college.
